The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) brought together top stars from across Africa as filmmakers, actors, and digital creators were honoured for their outstanding achievements in film, television, and digital storytelling.
The glamorous event, held in Lagos on Saturday night, celebrated excellence across multiple categories, with several Nigerian productions dominating the awards.
Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards saw Lisabi: A Legend Is Born emerge as the winner of the Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) category, earning actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji another major recognition for the historical epic.
In the acting categories, Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for his role in Colours of Fire, while Linda Ejiofor clinched Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Herd.
Bucci Franklin secured the Best Supporting Actor award for To Kill A Monkey, while My Father’s Shadow won Best Movie and also earned Akinola Davies Jr the Best Director award.
Reality and unscripted television also had their moments at the ceremony, with Nigerian Idol Season 10 winning Best Unscripted M-Net Original, while Out N’ About (Harar) emerged as the winner in the Best Series (Unscripted) category.
The event further highlighted the growth of African storytelling and the increasing global recognition of Nollywood and other African film industries.
